From 2021 to 2024, I was a Research Fellow at the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa and Florence) where I worked on the Valcon and PopSphere projects. From 2016 to 2019, I was a PhD student in Political Science at the University of Catania. During my doctorate, my research focused on the political communication of social movements. My research project analyzed alternative social networks as a new frontier in digital media. In parallel, I conducted research on Italian territorial movements such as No Muos, No Tav, and No Ponte, which <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">resulted in the co-authorship of two articles<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cDo LULU Movements in Italy Fight Mafia and Corruption? Framing Processes and \u2018Anti-System\u2019 Struggles in the No Tav, No Bridge, and No Muos Case Studies\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (published in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PaCo \u2013 Partecipazione e Conflitto<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLULU Movements in Multilevel Struggles: A Comparison of Four Movements in Italy\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (published in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rivista Italiana di Politiche Pubbliche<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). In December 2016, as a researcher, I participated in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anticorrp UE7-PQ Cooperation<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> project (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anticorruption Policies Revisited \u2013 Global Trends and European Responses to the Challenge of Corruption<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). In 2015, I published the book <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social Networks: New Systems of Surveillance and Social Control<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which analyzed how surveillance and social control practices are implemented on commercial platforms.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Giuliana Sorci is\u00a0Research Fellow at the University of Siena.
