Starting from the premise that the response to cyber threats represents not only a technical challenge but also a legal one, the discussion will focus on the EU’s legal instruments within the CFSP framework, with particular attention to the regime of restrictive measures adopted against third countries, individuals and entities responsible for cyber attacks. In light of the challenges facing the current sanctions regime and recent developments in practice, this paper will critically examine its consistency with the EU’s constitutional constraints and its effective contribution to the security of the Union and its Member States.

PROGRAM
Introduction by
Edoardo Alberto Rossi (University of Urbino)

Speaker
Susanna Villani (University of Bologna), with a presentation entitled ‘Surveillance and sanctions: defending democracy in the European Union in the face of cyber threats’

The seminar is part of the activities of the Jean Monnet Module DIGEOMETRY: DIGital EurOpe for Multi-Speed intEgraTion and democRacY.

POSTER
SLIDE

Sorvegliare e sanzionare: la difesa della democrazia nell’Unione Europea di fronte alle minacce cibernetiche DATE: 25 November 2025 PLACE: Palazzo Battiferri (Urbino, Via Saffi, 42) TIME: from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm ABSTRACT The seminar aims to explore the link between the need to safeguard the founding values of the European Union legal order, including […]

[13

post-257475","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-events
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.9 -
