SPOKE 8 — PNRR MISSIONE 4

A tal fine, saranno perseguiti tre obiettivi specifici:
a) Sviluppo di forme farmaceutiche personalizzate tramite tecnologie di produzione additiva (additive manufacturing);
b) Ingegnerizzazione di nanomedicine bioispirate e biomimetiche per una somministrazione precisa dei farmaci;

Leveraging 3D-printed microfluidic micromixers for the continuous manufacture of melatonin loaded SNEDDS with enhanced antioxidant activity and skin permeability
Prof. Luca Casettari, Dott. Mattia TiboniAbstractVesicants are chemical warfare agents (CWAs) capable of causing severe skin damage and systemic toxicity. Melatonin, known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, can mitigate the effects of these agents....
Efficient and highly reproducible production of red blood cell‑derived extracellular vesicle mimetics for the loading and delivery of RNA molecules
Prof.ssa Canonico, Dott. Tiboni, Dott.ssa Montanari, Prof Casettari, Prof Guescini, Prof.ssa Rossi, Prof MagnaniAbstractExtracellular vesicles (EVs) are promising natural nanocarriers for the delivery of therapeutic agents. As with any other kind of cell, red blood...
Exploring intranasal delivery of peptide and protein nanoparticles by a thermoresponsive hydrogel
Prof. Luca Casettari, Dott. Mattia TiboniAbstractEffective delivery of peptide or protein-based drugs (PPDs) remains a challenge as parenteral routes are invasive and PPDs are subjected to enzymatic degradation via the oral route. As such, intranasal (IN) route is an...
Combining innovation and sustainable development in the 3D printing manufacturing of drug delivery and testing devices
Prof. Luca Casettari, Dott. Mattia TiboniAbstractAdditive manufacturing (AM), commonly referred to as 3D printing (3DP), has made a significant impact on both manufacturing and healthcare, revolutionizing these industries. The key advantage of 3DP lies in rapid...
The dark side of the wool? From wool wastes to keratin microfilaments through the solution blow spinning process
Prof. Luca CasettariAbstractThe valorization of discarded wool from dairy sheep breeding is a challenging issue. The most proposed strategies lie in the processing of keratin extracted from wool without reducing the molecular weight of the protein chains (the high...
Non-invasive peptides delivery using chitosan nanoparticles assembled via calable microfluidic technology
Prof. Casettari, Dott. Tiboni, Prof.ssa AluigiAbstractThe delivery of peptides via non-invasive administration routes remains a challenge to be addressed. In this regard, chitosan nanoparticles (CS NPs) have shown promise. However, their current batch preparation...
Microfluidic development and biological evaluation of targeted therapy-loaded biomimetic nano system to improve the metastatic melanoma treatment
Prof. Luca Casettari, Dott. Mattia TiboniAbstractOptimizing current therapies is among next steps in metastatic melanoma (MM) treatment landscape. The innovation of this study is the design of production process by microfluidics of cell membrane (CM)-modified...
Biomimetic Platelet-Cloaked Nanoparticles for the Delivery of Anti-Inflammatory Curcumin in the Treatment of Atherosclerosis
Prof. Luca Casettari AbstractAtherosclerosis still represents a major driver of cardiovascular diseases worldwide. Together with accumulation of lipids in the plaque, inflammation is recognized as one of the key players in the formation and development of...
Super-Resolution-Chip: an in-vitro platform that enables super-resolution microscopy of co-cultures and 3D systems
Prof.ssa Rossana RautiAbstractThe development of organs-on-a-chip platforms has revolutionized in-vitro cellular culture by allowing cells to be grown in an environment that better mimics human physiology. However, there is still a challenge in integrating those...
