ASSET – Accounting for Sustainability, Social and Environmental Transparency
ASSET is an Erasmus+ KA2 project that aims to integrate sustainability into academic accounting programs.
The Mission
As future accounting professionals and business managers, accounting students will be crucial in promoting sustainable development by stimulating changes in companies’ priorities, spreading a sustainability culture in organisations and fostering the implementation of environmental and social initiatives, even beyond compliance with laws and jurisdictional regulations.
The Partners
The Project is under the developing of 8 European universities with a long tradition of collaboration in offering innovative teaching programs on accounting, finance, and auditing.
The long-lasting collaboration of ASSET’s project consortium allowed it to successfully realise several intensive study programs (ISPs) in accounting, being attended by more than 100 European students every year coming from all over Europe.
The objectives
The ASSET project (Accounting for Sustainability, Social and Environmental Transparency) aims to update traditional university accounting programs by embedding and promoting a new sustainability-oriented mindset in different areas of accounting (corporate reporting, managerial accounting, finance, and taxation).
ASSET’s Intensive Study programs
The three-year project (2023-2026) aims to organise annual Intensive Study Programs, where academics and students from partner universities will be involved in an educational program covering the following topics:
- Disclosing business value through sustainability and ESG reporting;
- Sustainability management accounting;
- Providing assurance on sustainability reports;
- Sustainability, taxation, and strategic decision-making.
