Asmaa Taki: from Casablanca to Uniurb – A PhD Student’s Experience

For Asmaa Taki, a PhD student in Management Sciences from Morocco, arriving in Urbino was a moment of genuine wonder: a “surprising” city, steeped in history and beauty, whose unique and inspiring architecture captivated her from the very first glance.

The heart of her experience with the ITACA project was the discovery of an academic environment of excellence, set in a city that Asmaa describes as calm yet vibrant with life, bustling with universities and students. For her, this mobility was not just an academic learning journey, but a “very enriching” human experience, where sharing and encountering others became the pillars of collective growth.

But beyond research and study, ITACA represented above all a profound opening up to the world.
Asmaa takes with her not only new scientific perspectives in the field of management, but also the memory of the extraordinary kindness and hospitality of the people she met, who made her feel welcome and at ease right from the start. For her, Urbino was not just a place of study, but a place capable of making anyone feel “at home”.

The experience concludes with an invitation filled with gratitude: to approach Urbino with an open mind, savouring every moment of an adventure that Asmaa promises to cherish forever in her heart

Sanaa and the ITACA Project: Urbino, a crossroads of ideas and sustainability
For Sanaa Rezki, a lecturer in Finance at the International University of Casablanca, arriving in Urbino was a moment of pure wonder: a ‘magical’, historic city surrounded by greenery that struck her with its beauty and serenity.
The heart of her experience with the ITACA project was the opportunity to discuss vital issues such as the Green Economy and sustainable finance. For Sanaa, sharing best practices is the key to transforming the economy, making businesses more resilient and responsible for the future.

But beyond research, ITACA has above all represented an opening to the world.

Sanaa takes with her not only new academic perspectives, but also the memory of the extraordinary kindness and hospitality of the people she met, who made her feel at home straight away.

A Uniurb Story – The ITACA Experience – Mounia

Mounia and the ITACA Project: Urbino as a Bridge Between Cultures

For Mounia, Professor at the International University of Casablanca, the experience in Urbino through the ITACA Project was “perfect” in every moment. What impressed her most was the atmosphere of the Renaissance city, which she described as inspiring and surrounded by a serene beauty.

The academic highlight was the conference on sustainability and innovation, a valuable opportunity for discussion that she considers essential for future research and international collaborations.

However, the greatest value of ITACA goes beyond books and classrooms: the project is a true bridge between cultures, bringing people together through kindness, friendship, and open-mindedness.

Mounia leaves Urbino carrying with her not only new professional skills, but also unforgettable human connections.

A Uniurb Story – The ITACA Experience – Chaimaa

Urbino and the ITACA project: a bridge between cultures and research through the eyes of Chaimaa Zayer
Academic internationalisation is also about encounters that transform one’s worldview. This is at the heart of the account given by Chaimaa Zayer, Professor of Business & Management at the International University of Casablanca (Morocco), who recently took part in the ITACA project at the University of Urbino Carbo Bo.
An immersion in the Renaissance For Prof. Zayer, the experience of Urbino was, in her own words, “magical”. She describes the experience of walking through the historic centre, between the Ducal Palace and the Albornoz Fortress, as being inside a Renaissance painting. This total immersion in Italian history and culture was not merely aesthetic, but provided fertile ground for the exchange of knowledge and academic perspectives.

ITACA: Beyond academic mobility
According to Chaimaa Zayer, the value of the ITACA project lies in its ability to act as a genuine strategic bridge. It is not merely an international mobility programme, but an initiative capable of forging lasting connections between:

  • Different cultures, fostering intercultural dialogue.
  • Universities and research centres, opening the door to future scientific collaborations.
  • Researchers, laying the foundations for academic friendships and long-term joint projects.

A bond that endures even after the experience has ended, the lecturer wished to extend a special thank you to the local community, highlighting the warmth and kindness she encountered during her stay.

“Urbino avrà sempre un posto speciale nel mio cuore”, a testament to how the ITACA project manages to combine excellence in scientific research with a profound human dimension

“شكرا جزيلا لجامعة اوربينو ولمشروع ايتكا ولجميع الاشخاص الرائعين على التجربة الرائعة والملهمة اللي ستبقى في ذاكرتي دائما لانها جمعت ما بين العلم والثقافة والإنسانية فس مكان واحد”.
